Yes, the 404 sedan/wagon registry is still being done. I have not had any recent additions to that list from NL, so I haven't been posting any updates here. There are 958 cars on that list. If you would like, I could start a new thread about that and show the updates too.

Good news this morning: I received an email from a fellow in Portugal whose cousin owns this pretty 404 Cabriolet from 1963: 4591088:



Total: 1419 surviving 404 C cars and 27 wrecked cars (1446).

Another one for the "family album": I contacted Mr. Daugstad in Norway who has a black 404 Cabriolet (1965) Injection: Nr. 4596832:

Yes, it is an old photo (from 2000 I think), so I wonder if the 605 is still around. Nice cars.

it looks like he has imported his 404 from Sweden as it has Swedish license plates FBS 752.

The picture must have been taken before the 2008/2007 because this very license plate number belongs now to a Honda CR-V in Sweden.

Sven Slager in New Zealand sent me a large list of 404s in his country today, including the following C models that were not already on the list:

6801867 Cabriolet, licence plate PS 6276
4599456 Coupé, licence plate MR 404

Total: 1449. My target for the year 2010 was to reach 1450 by December 31 so it looks as though I should get there!

I had a 1967 404 Coupé once and I bought new 1969-1973 504 C main beam units for it and they fit perfectly.

The original ones in the 404 C cars were not fog lights but rather main beam driving lamps, as on the 504 C, Cibié Iode Type HR (Halogène Route), E2 certification.

I have a little correction that takes the total down by one to 1450. Car 4598861 should not be on the list, it is a duplicate entry for 4598867.

I am now in touch with the Swedish Peugeot Club, and its President, who himself owns a 404 Coupé Injection, says that there are about 45 404C cars in Sweden. So I am looking forward to receiving more information!

I received 4 new serial numbers for the registry today.

The first two are in France:
4596582 - a white Cabriolet with Hard top that is undergoing a restoration right now:


4499606 - a white Cabriolet, under restoration right now in France:



4495588 - a Cabriolet in Sweden - photo to come

4591150 - a red Cabriolet in Sweden (originally Blanc Saratoga) with Nardi and Hard top, it needs a major restoration according to the owner (the headlights are strange!)

Another car was "found" in France today by the online registry:

4596729, Cabriolet Injection, in-service date of 24 July 1965, Noir 1000 with Havane leather interior, located in Dijon.

Today there are two bits of 404 C news to report:

Firstly: there was an error in the way I entered a previous car on the list; I had entered it as 6802292, but the number really is 6802992. This is a Dutch Cabriolet imported from the USA, Red in colour.

Secondly: The Dutch Cabriolet with the license plate DM-93-76 (white with Robergel wire wheels, the car is on Arthur's 404 CC website) was bought in 2009 by a Peugeot collector in New Zealand and this car is now there and has the license plate 4O4 C. Its serial number is 4594228.



This brings the total to 1457 cars!

Thanks to S.M., we have found another number of a Coupé in the Netherlands, which brings the total for NL to 94 cars in the Registry. This one was imported from France.

It is 4499304, a red Coupé with carb. engine.

There was some sad news from Germany this morning, the sister car of my Coupé, Cabriolet number 4598611 (mine is 4598609!) was scrapped last year in southern Bavaria for parts.

This same person has apparently also scrapped 3 other 404 C cars (should we call him the "undertaker?" ) and he has promised to add them to the list of "dead" 404 C cars soon.

So the total number of "known" 404 C cars has risen to 1459, but 28 of these are either crushed or exist for parts only.
