Thanks go out this time to Marc Maksimow (himself an owner of a 404 Cabriolet) from Los Angeles for this lead:

4592659, Coupé Injection 1964, Engine No. 5191326 (XC5); CALIFORNIA USA

This would not be a US model because the car originally had an Injection engine, so it likely came from Europe (I don't think that Canada got the 404C in 1964). We are not sure where the car is today - the VIN is written into a parts manual formerly owned by the late Peugeot collector Jim Bell - but if it was in California in the 1990s it is likely still there because that climate is very favourable to cars.

Total: 1940 !
