Hello,

I am new on the forum. I have recently bought Peugeot 604 SL (1978). It is in very good condition with only 87 000 km.
This car has sliding roof (toit ouvrant) which works perfectly. However, when fully closed, the gap between the roof and the sliding roof plate in front is only 4 mm wide contrary to rear gap which is 15 mm wide thus not tight enaugh. Therefore sliding roof needs adjustment.
Could someone advise me how to do it.

Hello,
the roof panel slides into four black plastic stops that sit on the left and right side. These plastic stops will make sure that the panel slides upwards the last centimeters so that the roof panel is flush with your roof. You will see them once you have opened the roof.
I guess that they are mounted too far to the front and should be adjusted some cm towards the rear...or they are broken...

Thanks for your suggestions and link to the deatiled pictures - they are great!
The mentioned stops are fixed to the sliding roof frame, each by two bolts, and cannot be adjusted. However, I have compared the pictures from your link with original Catalogue - page 84 (http://public.servicebox.peugeot.com/cl ... 1582647434) and it seems that the adjustment can be done by the centralizing screw (item No. 8427.12 - centrage vis) located somewhere at the emergency close lever. The question is, if that screw is accessible from inside the car...

The stops should determine how far the panel will be able to slide....
if the panel slides further I guess (on of) the following would be the case;
1. The stops are wrongly mounted or broken
2. The pins/axes that slide into the stops are wrongly mounted/bend
3. If they are good en well mounted: the exterior plate is mounted wrongly to the interior plate

Do you know if the exterior plate has been off ?

I took it off in order to repair it and respray it. And it was not that easy to bolt it back onto the inner plate I remember.

The back and front stop should sit 305 mm from each other.
