Hi all , i am Ahmed from Egypt.
I am new in this forum , i will write in english only , because i can't write or read you language , sorry very sorry

I have 1979 504 GL , see it here ...

It is my father's car, but i drive it all day all night since 1999, in the beginning i was wondring , why people love 504 (in egypt) that much ? but day after day, i find it one of the best cars in the world.
it is a ROCK , and goes to anywhere without any problems.

My car has some simple modifications, now it makes 0-100 in about 10 seconds , reachs easily 6000 RPM. but the main problem i have, the main problm in a 504 i see is the steering wheel, big and very slow (4.5 turns lock to lock) .

my car = my love , really , i had many memories with it, it is not perfect car, there is many many 504 in egypt, better than my car, but i LOVE it.

504 in egypt ie one of the most famous cars, for example , if you go to any person in the streets and say " i have a peugeot" they understand you have a 504 .
there is also here 304 404 505 305 605 but fe 405 406 605 205 206 and other cars.

Hi Ahmed, nice pics of a nice car!
I bet there are still a lot of 504's in Egypt and other Northern African countries.
But I guess most owners probably don't consider the car as a classic - like we (are able to) do - but they mostly use the Peugeots as a very good working horse?

yes man, you are right ! in egypt the 504 there is no classic cars , all are working.
the most respectable taxi car is the 504, as it is hard worker.
for me, i have only this car, to drive daily and to race and to all the funny ways !

Here in the netherlands the 504 is becoming more populair sso they are being imported
However the 305 and 505 are dying out especialy the break. Most of them are shiped off to africa

I always wondered why (basically) all cars in your country drive at night without light Maybe you can explain me. That's what I see from your region on TV and indeed a lots of 504.

Post Scriptum: In Europe the EU wants that all cars travel with lights on at daylight to reduce accidents.

there are some rules in the egyption street, people made them not the government . one of them makes people turn off their lights when driving to prevent make other pople angry. so when you drive on a highway you turn it on , but inside the city you can turn your light on , but you should turn it off when a car is coing in front of you, specially in the very small streets . all that , only at night, at daylight if you turn your lights on, someone will remind you that you forgot your lights turned on !!!!!
It is bad situation, and it is one of million mistakes in the egyption traffic, so we have a huge number of accidents.
but people here are not that bad, the driving behaviours only

Welcome Ahmed! I think it 's very nice to have a foreign quest on this forum, especially one from the country where the 504 is the most common and populair Peugeot!

My homemade RPM with shiftlight , bad thing too :)


and, my best idea, this air filter, also , homemade air filter, i made the base plate for the filter and the cover and simple idea to join them, and used a regular air filter, then i changed the carburettor main jets, to 130-140 , now the acceleration is very nice. and the sound, sure you know about it :)

504 pick-up 2.3 diesel 5-bak, 1992. Gekocht in departement 59 en later weer verkocht aan iemand (anders) uit dat departement:

Hier eindelijk een paar foto's van mijn 404. Het is een Super Luxe uit 1964.

Grappig, ik zie het nu pas dat onze 404's slechts negen cijfers verschillen.
Mijn coupé heeft AH-64-74.

Dat betekent dat er tussendoor nog 900 oldtimers op kenteken zijn gezet. Zouden er meer oldtimers het land in gaan dan uit, ik denk het wel! Dat betekent ook dat er in sommige landen meer oldtimers geexporteerd worden dan geimporteerd. Ben ik blij dat ik in Nederland-Oldtimerland woon!
